71 - 74: Waldrop, Budde, Ball, Munday

Forgive the lack of elucidation; I am exhausted.

71. Curves to the Apple by Rosmarie Waldrop

This book encompasses three books of Waldrop’s poetry: The Reproduction of Profiles, Lawn of Excluded Middle (which is out of print) and Reluctant Gravities. May I gush? Waldrop has me rethinking my approach to the prose poem. I have half the book flagged and will be placing it in a place of honour in my bedside reading stack…unless Wilcke fights me for it.

72. declining america by Rob Budde

“Poetry should astound and frighten, not make you giggle for two seconds.” Yes. This.

73. ex machina by Jonathan Ball

A review-thing will be forthcoming from me on Lemon Hound.

74. Quarter-Life Crisis: Only the Good Die Yung by Evan Munday

Munday gave his graphic novel to me this afternoon during my first ever visit to the famous Coach House, and I polished it off this afternoon over dinner in an Ossington Avenue pub and at a coffee shop patio several doors down. Dystopic Toronto lovingly rendered, but watch out for those Bay Street Thugs.
