Done. And not a moment too soon…

86. Dragon’s Eye (Anne McCaffery)

87. The Masterharper of Pern (Anne McCaffery)

88. Dragonsblood (Todd McCaffery)

I think Todd McCaffery might be a stronger writer than his mother. He gets less caught up in gender essentialism, in any case.

89. Graceling (Kristin Cashore)

Great young adult fantasy. Thanks for recommending it, Meghan. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series (I am the next in line for the ebook copy from the Calgary Public Library. I am a dork, because I still find library ebooks very cool).

90. The Skys of Pern (Anne McCaffery)

91. The Lateral (Jake Kennedy)

Only a book this smart can use the phrase “fucking asshole” so many times and still fucking mean it, even in the presence of children.

92.  My Life (Lyn Hejinian)

A re-read. I really love this book.

93. Girldrive: Criss-crossing America, redefining feminism (Nona Willis Aronowit)z, Emma Bee Bernstein)

A really cool project that asks women across the US about feminism: what it is, what it should be, and how it touches their lives.

94. If On a Winter’s Night a Traveler (Italo Calvino)

I picked this up again because I realized I had less than a chapter to go, so might as well finish. I think this book ruins itself by trying to tie together everything with a love story.

95.  Exploding Into Night (Sandy Pool)

“In the meantime, I had become beautiful. I
had grown scales and a black, liquid eye. You
couldn’t see past it, or didn’t want to. You
cried and went into the kitchen, shuffling
through the top drawer for something.”

Happy New Year.
